Princeton MAE honored its 46 graduating seniors in a Class Day ceremony on Monday, May 29, conferring honors and awards for outstanding academic achievement.
"We are thrilled to celebrate with our students their many accomplishments," said Howard Stone, Donald R. Dixon ’69 and Elizabeth W. Dixon Professor and chair of MAE. "This year’s class experienced a major disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they have excelled nonetheless. We look forward to watching their successes as they take their next steps beyond MAE."
Abhinav Agarwal was awarded the Sau-Hai Lam*58 Prize in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, which honors academic achievement and excellence in MAE.
Kristen Ahner was awarded first place for the Morgan W. McKinzie ’93 Senior Thesis Prize. This award recognizes the best senior thesis in the department. Abhinav Agarwal was awarded second place.
Kyle Ikuma and Shannen Prindle were co-winners of the Donald Janssen Dike Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research. This award honors excellent independent work.
Sophie Amiton won first place for the John Marshall II Memorial Prize, which recognizes the excellence of her independent work related to aerospace engineering. Jeb Carter came in second place, Gavin Cotter in third place.
Eric Love, Thomas Olson and Bradley Rindos received the Enoch J. Durbin Prize for Engineering Innovation for their senior thesis. This award recognizes special interest and aptitute in engineering innovation.
Lauren Rawson, Ken Nakamura and Richard Zhu were awarded the George Bienkowski Memorial Award for scholarship and service to the department.
Rodrigo Fernandez was awarded the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Academic Support award for providing support for fellow students and showing leadership.
Kathryn-Alexa Kennedy won the Sigma Xi Book Award for excellence in research.
The School of Engineering and Applied Science held a separate ceremony to recognize the graduating seniors as part of the BSE program. SEAS selected three MAE students for awards:
Kristen Ahner received the Calvin Dodd MacCracken Senior Thesis/Project Award, recognizing the inventiveness and technical accomplishment of her senior thesis.
Kyle Ikuma received the Lore von Jaskowsky Memorial Prize, honoring students who have made a contribution to research in the field and added to the quality of university life.
Thomas Olson won a J. Rich Steers Award, given by the New York City Post, Society of American Military Engineers to reward scholastic performance that demonstrates potential for further engineering study and practice.
