The Daniel Guggenheim Medal Board recently convened to select the winner of the Daniel Guggenheim Medal. Irvin Glassman, Robert H Goddard Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, emeritus has been selected as 2018 Daniel Guggenheim Medal recipient.
Professor Glassman was recognized for his profound impact on the application of combustion science and engineering to propulsion research and the successful development of propulsion systems.
The Daniel Guggenheim Medal was established in 1929 for the purpose of honoring persons who make notable achievements in the advancement of aeronautics. The Medal is jointly sponsored by AIAA, ASME, SAE, and AHS. Administration of the Medal resides with AIAA.www.guggenheimmedal.org. This annual award is generally presented at the Aerospace Spotlight Awards Gala.
