Short Bio

Jesse Ault is a Ph.D. candidate in Howard Stone's Complex Fluids Group, where he studies fluid mechanics and applied mathematics and computation. His research focuses on the modeling and simulation of fluid flow phenomena, including: characterizing a new particle capture mechanism in branching junctions, developing theoretical scaling arguments for the development and decay of curved pipe flow, simulating liquid imbibition in foams, and developing a novel approach for measuring zeta potentials. He recently received the Mary and Randall Hack 1969 water research award to pursue research on a large-surface-area continuous-flow evaporative water purification technique. He received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2012 with minors in math and physics.
