Research Assistant Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering - Naval Postgraduate School

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department (MAE) of the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is inviting applications from highly motivated Material Scientists to fulfill a Research Faculty position to support the research and development of a variety of materials including metals, ceramics, carbon-based structures and composites. The position will be focused on the fabrication, characterization and testing of materials of Naval relevance. A PhD in Materials Science or a closely related field is required. The applicant should possess operational expertise with characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, FIB, XRD, EDS as well as previous experience collecting mechanical, thermal and/or electrical properties. The candidate must also be able to record, assimilate and interpret data, write technical reports, publications and be willing and able to present results in technical forums. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with other NPS faculty members and graduate students on sponsored research projects, including proposal preparation and sponsor interaction. Demonstrated
experience conducting experimental research programs is mandatory. To be considered for the position candidates should have US citizenship or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
