Mechanical Engineering Faculty - Wichita State University
The Mechanical Engineering Department at Wichita State University is pleased to announce the search for two tenure eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the area of Energy and Mechanical Systems starting in August 2018. Duties include teaching, securing externally funded research, scholarship, and service. Requirements for these positions include an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a very closely-related engineering field by the time of appointment, a notable record of journal publications and scholarly activities, evidence of potential to attract external funding and conduct independent research, effective communication skills, evidence of teaching potential as well as disposition to work with a diverse population. A BS degree in mechanical engineering is required.
Energy Systems (Position # 998592): Preferred research areas are energy efficiency, energy conversion, energy storage for renewable power, clean water and environment, energy-water-food nexus, energy sustainability, and thermal transport processes. Preference will be given to candidates who have taught laboratory courses, done experimental research, and enthusiastic to teach mechanical engineering laboratory courses.
Mechanical Systems (Position # 998783): Preferred research area is the modeling and simulation of intelligent systems using big data for applications such as structural health monitoring, autonomous/electric vehicle, manufacturing, robotics, or sensors. Preference will be given to candidates who have taught courses, performed experimental and computational research, and are enthusiastic about teaching computer aided design and finite elements courses.
