Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering - University of New Hampshire

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) invites applications for a lecturer position with a starting date of August 22, 2022. The Department is particularly interested in innovative teacher-scholars who can make fundamental contributions to our academic and service missions.  UNH seeks excellence through diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The lecturer position is full-time, benefited, non-tenure track, and offers the potential for employment security with a multi-year appointment at the junior, senior, or principal level. 

The expectation is that the instructor will assist in the delivery of a systems and control laboratory course, teach 3-4 lecture-based courses per academic year, and advise senior design project teams. The lecture-based courses could include systems and control, mechanics, engineering design, and other courses as may align with the applicant’s professional experience. The instructor will also be responsible for student advising, department service, and outreach to professional and alumni constituents. 

For the systems and control laboratory, the lecturer will work with a professor who has the main responsibility for the course.  The lecturer responsibilities for this laboratory course include setting up and supervising the laboratory experience, conducting office hours, grading of assignments, and periodic lecture development on request.  The responsibilities for the lecture-based courses include lecture development and delivery; conducting office hours and recitations; creating homework, quiz, and exam assignments; grading of assignments; and assigning final course grades.
