Associate/Full professor - The University of Central Florida
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking to hire an associate or full professor to join the Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster (http://www.ucf.edu/research/prosthetics) as a cluster lead in a tenured positon with a target start date of Fall 2017 or earlier. The Prosthetic Interfaces Cluster will focus on fundamental and applied sciences in the study of biosensors and the body’s response to implanted devices.
This is an interdisciplinary position involving the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in any of the following areas: brain-machine interface, biomechatronics, prosthetics and its interface with tissues and organs, and tissue and whole body responses to prosthetic devices. The latter includes prosthetic sensors, actuators, and material development, tissue and whole body inflammatory responses to prosthetic devices, short- and long-term physiological and biochemical responses to prosthesis implants, as well as artificial organ/tissue preservation. The candidate will have a strong desire to collaborate and develop novel technologies with scientists and engineers from other disciplines at UCF.
The selected candidate for the lead position will play a key role in hiring a team of additional scientists/clinicians and engineers who will work with scientists and engineers at UCF, translating bioengineering and material science into the development of biomedical prosthetic devices. These additional cluster hires are expected to be completed by Fall 2017.
