Job Description Summary Michigan Technological University, Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics (ME-EM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.

All research areas are of interest, including additive manufacturing, circular manufacturing, cyber-physical systems, robotics, wave energy conversion and more. Other openings are available within the college of engineering in multiple programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) 1. Develop externally funded research programs in area of interest.
2. Foster collaboration with other faculty.
3. Engage in both undergraduate and graduate teaching.
4. Contribute to professional service,
5. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
6. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and apply them to everyday work.
Required Education (minimum requirements) Earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Required Experience (minimum requirements) Applicants must have experience in Engineering or science research resulting in scholarly publications, and must demonstrate through experience, familiarity with financial/funding resources and opportunities available to faculty utilized by U.S. Academic Institutions.
Desirable Education and/or Experience Experience teaching in an institution of higher education, will have demonstrated the skills required to design a course/class at the university level, will have leadership experience advising a team of research staff, and will have experience with research additive proposal writing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Knowledge in any of the following research areas: additive manufacturing/curricular manufacturing, cyber-physical systems, robotics, wave energy conversions, as well as all other research areas.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Knowledge of university curriculum development, skill in technical communication and proposal writing.
Work Environment and/or Physical Demands The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
