Job Summary
The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in the general areas of 1) fluid mechanics and 2) dynamics and vibrations. Within these general areas some specific interests include, but are not limited to: multiphase flows, computational fluid dynamics, biomedical flows, structural acoustics and dynamics, acoustics and noise control, nonlinear dynamics, engineered materials and structures.
Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate potential to build an independent research program, as well as potential to educate and mentor students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.
School and College
The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University is ranked 8th nationally for undergraduate programs and 8th for graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report. The School is one of the largest at Purdue University, and in the nation, with 1802 undergraduates, 1000 graduate students, 94 faculty, and 69 staff. The School is home of the Herrick, Zucrow and Maha research laboratories with significant infrastructure and a long tradition of collaboration with industry, national laboratories, and other universities. Mechanical Engineering faculty members also carry out a significant portion of research at the Birck Nanotechnology Center. The Bechtel Innovation Design Center and Maker Spaces provide hands-on experiences together with an entrepreneurship ecosystem through the Purdue Foundry and Discovery Park.
