The MAE Summer Practical Research Experience (SPRE) provides the opportunity for students to explore engineering from the research perspective and gain insight and experience that does not result from classroom learning.  Students are exposed to different types of research that are being pursued by the faculty.  Additionally, students have the opportunity to work out a project of mutual interest by approaching a faculty member with ideas about possible projects.  A general outline of the summer project is jointly developed by the student and faculty adviser.  The SPRE opportunity is restricted to current Princeton University MAE department sophomores or first-year students who intend to major in the MAE department and wish to learn more about engineering science. First-year students must declare MAE to be eligible to participate.

Applications will be made available through SAFE and will open mid February and close mid March. Notification of the award will occur first two weeks of April.
