Tenure-Track Faculty in Aeronautics & Astronautics - University of Washington

The William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position with a nine-month service period. We are primarily focused on hires at the Assistant Professor rank, although individuals at higher ranks with exceptional credentials may be considered. We seek faculty members who will embrace a culture of excellence and inclusion, will be committed to graduate and undergraduate education, and will develop novel research programs. Particular research areas of interest include plasma physics and engineering for space applications, electric propulsion and advanced space propulsion technologies, deployable/lightweight structures for space habitats, novel materials/structural concepts for space vehicles, formal methods for aerospace GNC verification/validation, and extraplanetary autonomy and robotics (manipulation, vehicles, autonomous manufacturing, corobotics). Candidates will be expected to complement existing research areas in the Department and across campus, and to assume a leadership position in space-related research. Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent in an appropriate engineering or related discipline by the date of appointment.
