Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of Mechatronics, Robotics, and Control Systems. Candidates with an expressed interest in application areas such as Automotive Systems Control, Biomedical Applications, and Autonomous Vehicles are strongly encouraged to apply. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering has experienced consistent and sustained growth over the past few years, and has recently established a new Bachelor of Science program in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering. SIUE is a strong advocate of the teacher-scholar model, and therefore, the successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering, publish scholarly work, supervise graduate students, and participate in service activities. The selected candidate will also be expected to establish and sustain an externally funded research program. Additionally, the successful candidate for the Assistant Professor position must demonstrate a strong commitment to our new Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program and be active in the design and teaching of classes that have extensive project-based learning activities.
